IBM Recognizes Blaze, an Orient Logic Subsidiary, for Its Project with the Georgian State Electrosystem

IBM, one of the world's largest technology corporations, has once again highlighted a successful collaboration with Orient Logic. Most recently, IBM featured a project delivered by Blaze, Orient Logic’s subsidiary, which supports the digital transformation of Georgia’s electricity market.

Notably, Orient Logic is the only Georgian company whose expertise and successfully delivered projects have been showcased by a global technology leader such as IBM. In addition, Orient Logic holds IBM Gold Partner status.


As part of its efforts to align more closely with European electricity market standards and achieve certification as a European Transmission System Operator (TSO), the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) launched an ambitious package of market reforms. These reforms aim to establish a fair, transparent, reliable, and competitive electricity market in Georgia that fully complies with European Union regulations.


Within this initiative, Blaze developed a new digital platform for the Georgian State Electrosystem. The Electricity Market Participant (EMP) Platform is designed to consolidate essential information and services into a single environment while simplifying day-to-day operations for both internal and external electricity market participants.


What Does the Electricity Market Participant (EMP) Platform Include?

Previously, entities seeking official registration in Georgia’s energy market were required to complete extensive paperwork manually and perform numerous calculations by hand. As a result, there was a clear need for a centralized platform capable of digitizing every step of the process—from market participant registration to reporting—while making the system more accessible and user-friendly for all stakeholders.

The new technology platform developed by Blaze enables market participants to perform a wide range of operations with just a few clicks, including energy exchange trading, energy provider registration, cost estimation, reporting, and more. At the same time, users gain access to near real-time information on electricity trading activities, pricing, consumption, and other key market metrics.


“The platform we developed with the support of our technology team is the first of its kind in the region and addresses the fundamental challenges that have historically existed within Georgia’s electricity market. Processes that previously required paper-based workflows and manual document completion have now been fully digitized. The platform is intuitive and easy to use, offering functionality not only for trading on organized and balancing markets but also for incident investigation, financial guarantee management, settlements, document exchange, cost estimation, monitoring, and other critical operations. As a result, the system enhances the reliability and transparency of energy market operations, which is a key prerequisite for the efficient functioning of Georgia’s energy sector and its integration with Europe. For market participants, utilizing this platform also demonstrates adherence to European standards,”

Fully Digital Management of Electricity Market Operations

For GSE, advancing Georgia’s electricity sector required not only the adoption of digital technologies but also strict compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements related to reliability, transparency, and operational stability.


To address these challenges, GSE selected Blaze, an Orient Logic subsidiary, to develop the new digital platform by integrating leading IBM technologies. The system is built on advanced IBM and Red Hat solutions, including:


  • IBM Process Automation Manager Open Edition

  • IBM Instana Observability

  • Red Hat OpenShift

  • Red Hat Integration

“The EMP platform offers a comprehensive range of functionalities. The process begins with user registration, where power generation companies, distribution companies, and other market participants can register electronically. Previously, this process was performed manually, and the completion and physical transfer of documentation often led to errors and delays. Today, the entire process is digital. Monthly reports are generated automatically without requiring human intervention, making operations more efficient and significantly reducing the risk of human error.

For this reason, we utilize tools that provide real-time incident visibility and help us identify and resolve issues quickly,”

The teams at GSE and Blaze plan to continuously expand the platform’s capabilities, positioning it as a key component of electricity market operations on a global scale. Once the platform is fully operational within the Georgian market, the project stakeholders intend to explore opportunities to export the solution internationally.
